Roots Design Matero combines wood with glass. The wooden part, known as the body, can be wiped with a damp cloth or simply rinsed. We advise against scrubbing the engraving too vigorously, as the natural burning effect of the wood can cause the dark colors that give the matero its character to fade with strong and intensive scrubbing.

The interior of the matero can be washed with dishwashing liquid. It is made of borosilicate glass, which has very high durability.

Breaking the mold, we also wanted to ensure comfort and safety in use. Wood is not a natural material used for drinking beverages, especially hot or staining ones like yerba mate. Therefore, we decided to incorporate glass into the wooden body to ensure practicality, comfort, and safety. It is definitely easier to maintain cleanliness of the matero by removing used yerba from the glass rather than from wood. Our glass is also fully safe for contact with food.

Matero Roots Design, due to the use of natural wood, should never be washed in dishwashers or sterilizers. This can cause the wood to absorb excessive amounts of water, leading to cracking and deformation during the drying process. Such treatment is highly detrimental to this product. For the exterior of the matero, simply wipe it with a damp cloth, and clean the interior with dishwashing liquid.

Absolutely! Of course, like in any case, it requires a bit of practice, but it is definitely possible and recommended 🙂 even with very low-dust yerba mate.
